Our country deserves better, good Zimbabweans. Our people have never enjoyed peace since 1980, when the country was faced with elections; and it non other than my party that was responsible for 95% of the election;
1. During the 1980 independence elections 2679 people where killed during the period of campaigning. Lord Soames, who was tasked to transfer power to the majority Zimbabweans only accepted the election results to avoid further bloodbath.

2. Between 1980 and 1987 more than 20 000 supporters of the opposition ZAPU were exterminated by the army and militia supporters of our party.
3. In 1990, ZUM which contested elections under the leadership of Tekere accounted 162 deaths through political violence. Some were burnt in their homes by the militias and members of the CIOs.

The Muzorewa/Ndabaningi Sithole alliance that wanted to challenge Mugabe in 1995 resulted in the massacre of 113 people of Sithole's supporters after the CIOs maliciously planted a claymore mine bomb on the road to the National Sports Stadium which they accused of having been planted by Ndabaningi Sithole to assassinate Mugabe. The result was the massacre of 113 supporters of Ndabaningi Sithole. They withdraw their candidature against our President.
5. Since the formation of the MDC in 1999 to present the MDC family has lost more than 6000 of it's members. Thousands more were tortured and hundreds of thousands displaced, others into foreign countries.
6. As we are approaching the forthcoming elections we can not afford to loose life again.
I want today all of us to comment by the words" No to Political Violence". Lets all support the words of President Mugabe and just comment No to Political Violence to ashame those who want to cause mayhem. Lets all in unison say No to Political Violence.
