According to the UN six of its staff were killed and nine wounded in the attack on the Bekhtar guesthouse. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack which took place as Afghanistan prepares for the upcoming second round run-off in the presidential elections.

Smoke comes out of a guest house after an attack in Kabul, Afghanistan on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. Gunmen attacked the guest house used by U.N. staff in the Afghan capital of Kabul early Wednesday, officials said. A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility, saying it was meant as an assault on the upcoming presidential election.
