Push carts get brisk business

Reports from Bulawayo say the pushcart business made huge profits during the festive season.

Speaking to ZBC News, the pushcart drivers said they had recorded a visible amount of business recently, as people now opt for them to transport goods.

The scaneers, as they are affectionately known, said people now prefer them as they are a cheaper mode of transporting goods.

However, they are also illegally charging in foreign currency, with a trip of at least five kilometres costing 100 Rand or more.

The informal business sector has also recorded good business in the country, as they now illegally possess and sell basic goods and services in foreign currency.
