GOVERNMENT has instituted high-level investigations into the riotous behaviour by soldiers in Harare amid revelations that about a dozen troopers are in line for court martial following unprecedented street protests and looting by members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA).
Military sources said all state security forces have been put on high alert in the wake of the mayhem spawned by the rogue soldiers who have been rampaging through the streets of Harare in protests over failure to access their salaries from the banks.
Since Thursday last week attested members of the ZNA have been engaged in assaulting, robbing and looting of shops in and around Harare's central business district (CBD).
Police were forced fire tear smoke as the soldiers rampaged through the streets.
On Monday, they ran amok, robbing people of cash and looting shops of goods, mostly clothing and electrical goods, forcing Defence Minister, Sydney Sekeramayi, to hastily convene a press conference to reassure a doubting public that the government was on top of the situation.
Sekeramayi was accompanied by senior service chiefs, among them the Commander of the Defence Forces, Constantine Chiwenga and ZNA Commander, Lieutenant-General Phillip Sibanda.

Every one seems to have over looked a very important detail....''mugabe and the generals'' have been wanting to declare a State Of Emergency and so far have not been able to find thew right time to do it....they are now really desperate and need a way out of this GNU that will give them back the total and full control and ''ownership'' of Zimbabwe that they so desperately need....
This army business is just what they needed the only problem being that they thought the army guys were really going to run wild on a much wider scale....so don't for 1 second think that this army rampage means anything like ''mugabe and the generals'' are losing control cause they ain't it is going according to plan.....a lot of planning on their part.....
The pressure that the West is putting onto ''mugabe'' is not going to accomplish anything but the ''opening of the gates of hell'' on to the Zimbabwean people.....the only people that have been suffering and that will carry on suffering is the ordinary Zimbabwean as well as making the life for the Zimbabwean whites very dangerous...
''mugabe and the generals'' have no respect or need for the people ...they have shown the West that so many times and the West keeps playing straight into their hands.....the more the West pee's and froth's and goes around ''dumping'' so called ''targeted sanctions'' the more people will be killed...the more the country will be destroyed......
